Four Myths That Gave Birth Diwali Festival

Diwali is one of the biggest festivals of India. It also means the festival of light, the success over the evil and light over darkness.It falls between mid-October and mid-November.In this day everyone worship Goddess Lakshmi. There are four reasons to celebrate Diwali.

These are:-

  • Birth of Lakshmi: – Diwali is believed to be the birth of Goddess Lakshmi. According to mythology, Lakshmi, the Goddess of wealth was reborn on the new moon light of the kartik month. This is why Diwali is celebrated to pursue the blessings of Goddess of wealth.
  • Return of Pandavas: – Diwali is also celebrated as people welcomed pandavas after their return from 12years of deportee to the Virata Kingdom by lightening lamps with joy and happiness.
  • Victory of Rama: – Diwali is celebrated in India as Rama returned to his kingdom Ayodhya after defeating Ravana of Lanka from their 14years of exile. So, people welcomed them with lightening of lamps.
  • Krishna killed Narakasura: -Diwali is celebrated for the victory of good over evil as Lord Vishnu in his 8th incarnation as Krishna,destroyed Narakasura, the demon and saved many people from his cruelty.

So, Diwali is a festival of victory of Good over Evil, and bringing joy and prosperity to everyone’s life.
